Star Wars in the Park

A free outdoor cinema showing of the latest Star Wars film experience on Saturday 9 July 2016, in Woking Park, will round off a day of live music, sci-fi entertainment and space-age fun for families.

With more than 50 per cent of the public vote, Star Wars was the people’s choice of film to be shown on the Big Screen. The opening credits roll at 6.30pm.

Sponsors of the Big Screen for a second year, The Ambassadors’ Marketing Manager, Alys Carter, said: “The Force Awakens was a huge hit at the box office and no doubt it will be equally successful at Party in the Park.

Star Wars fans can also enjoy lightsaber training in the Sports Zone at Party in the Park plus three sets by tribute act, Sci-Fand Band with Chewy Bacca, and lead vocalists, Princess Leah and Garth Raver.

Last year more than 15,000 people attended Party in the Park and it is hoped this year’s sci-fi themed celebration, in honour of H.G. Wells, will attract the same amount of visitors, if not more.

Be a party trooper – A space age outfit or outlandish alien attire could win you a £100 Woking Shopping voucher. Parade around the park in your galactic getup then join the judging line at 5pm for a chance to wing the top prize. Younger Martians can take part too, pocketing a £50 voucher if their extra-terrestrial dress is the one to impress.

Party in the Park takes place on Saturday 9 July 2016, 12noon to 9pm in Woking Park. To find out more and to see photos from last year’s event, visit the Celebrate Woking website.
